Finn had a key role in the popular TV show The Middle.

US entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic TV shows such as "Friends", "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor died at home in LA this Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer since 2022, according to reports.

"He considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a message.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He also had a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a party host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on several well-known programs, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised many learners during his career and it's nearly impossible to find anyone who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

In a tribute, peer Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote online.

The actor is leaves behind his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
