British tennis star Emma Raducanu concludes the current season and will keep her coach into the 2026 season.
Raducanu made it to the third stage in three of the four major tournaments in the current campaign.
Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events in 2025 due to a health issue she has been fighting in recent days.
At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to regain her health before starting plans for the 2026 season.
Her upcoming training are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together again next season.
She required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match against Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.
She again required a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.
Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the third set in the match with Zhu due to back discomfort that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.
Those results followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally after a long gap since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.
She held three match points before losing to Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.
The player achieved 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.
Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of a premier WTA event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way then falling in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.
Her coach was Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.
The initial agreement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions for the end of the year.
Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.
She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati during August.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
