Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Questers and Schemers groups.
Fans can look forward to discovering which characters will be where in the season’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
