Former Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Charges
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Police have asked anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
