The Renowned Musician Encourages Public Help to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The campaign aims to send support to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Featured Artists
The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.
The notable list of artists contributing to Lullaby includes a selection of well-known figures from the scene. All took part in the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of music creators. The track features a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The team running the campaign have stated that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These resources will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a representative explained. “We will pursue as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The context in the area was described as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of buildings said to be in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a couple of million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”
The song is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
