Triple MVP Nikola Jokic endures a 'gut-wrenching' injury to his knee.
Three-time National Basketball Association MVP Jokic sustained a "heartbreaking" knee injury as the Denver Nuggets lost 147-123 to the Heat.
The star player injured himself towards the end of the second quarter following an accidental contact with teammate Jones.
His teammate came down on the footwear of the big man, who promptly fell to the floor grabbing his knee.
The star, that leads the NBA this season in boards and dimes, posted a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the game prior to incurring the injury.
He will undergo an MRI scan on Tuesday to determine the severity of the problem.
"Instantly, he realized something was wrong," stated Nuggets head coach Adelman.
"This is part of the NBA. Anyone that suffers an injury, that's difficult, particularly somebody as talented as he is. We'll find out more on Tuesday."
"The team will adjust as a team. Obviously, right now, I am focused just about him personally and the frustration of experiencing something of that nature."
